SpencerPublic Library’s Poetry Contest is in full swing. So, be sure to put the finishing touches on your most prized poem, fill out an entry form, and turn it in to the library.

Don’t miss “Iowa’s Ancient Trails” by Iowa State Archaeologist Educator, Cherie Haury-Artz. Haury-Artz will present researched information on 8 of Iowa’s ancient trails that people can drive/bike along. The presentation highlights the trails geology, history, and prehistory of each route, focusing on landmarks or places to visit along the way. She will focus on the Spirit Lake to Blood Run Trail that cuts west from Spirit Lake to the Gitchi Manitou State Preserve.
Get ready for our fourth and last installment of Pushing the Limits, a book club meets science cafĂ© program.  We will be reading Andy Weir’s book The Martian and discussing the scientific idea of motion within the book and within our everyday lives. Free potato bar! This program was made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
