| Children's Programs “Be Creative @ Your Library!” summer reading program. On Tuesday, June 2nd we’ll be having our Kick-Off Registration and Cookie Decorating Party! Stop by any time between 5 and 8 pm to register your children for the summer reading program and receive your book bags full of reading logs and other fun items. When that’s finished, children are invited to use their creativity to decorate cookies! Thursday, June 11th Mad Science of Iowa will be here for their INNOVAT!ONS assembly show at 11:30 am. Fun with Fairytales is a theatrical workshop being held at 1:00 on Tuesday, June 16th for children in preschool through 2nd grade. There will also be a theatrical workshop for children in 3rd through 6th grades on Tuesday, June 30th at 1:00 called Fun with Frog and Toad. There will also be a movie, popcorn, and craft event for all ages on Tuesday, June 23rd at 1:00 where we’ll be showing High School Musical 3. Spencer Public Library will be hosting Iowa Public Television’s Stories and More programs in our ICN room every Thursday morning at 10:30 from June 18th through July 16th. Topics in June include, I’ve Got Rhythm! on the 18th and Ham It Up! on the 25th. Space is limited in our ICN room, so please call or stop in at the front desk to register for specific sessions. | Teen Programs **check the bottom of this page for * FINAL* Guitar Hero Tournament stats** The Spencer Public Library Young Adult Summer Reading Program is underway! Registration has started for the program, but you can sign up anytime. Just stop by the front desk and get your bag of goodies and registration form. Make sure to turn your registration form in at the front desk! The program runs from now until August 8th, with the final party on Saturday, August 15th, time t.b.a. You can register at any point and you don’t need to attend the events (but you should, because we’re going to have fun). Wednesday, June 3 the Teen Board meets at 4 p.m. Friday we will be having a Star Wars Battlefront tournament at 1:30 in the Round Room. Wednesday, June 10, we will be playing Rock Concert, starting at about 10 in the morning. On the 11th, the library is hosting Mad Science. The program starts at 11:30. On Friday the Twelfth, we will be hosting another movie. This time it’ll be A Knight’s Tale. Movie starts at 1 p.m. Feel free to bring big comfy pillows to lounge on. The Chess Club will meet at 4 p.m. on the 16th. Mario Kart Tournament runs from Thursday, June 18th until Friday, June 19th. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. on both days. Saturday, June 20th, the Teen Board meets at 9 in the morning, followed by open Magic Card and Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments at 11 a.m., and Dungeons & Dragons at 2 in the afternoon. Book club meeting on Monday the 22nd at 4 p.m. Tuesday the 23rd we will be hosting our big Halo 3 Tournament. You must have a signed note from your parent or guardian that specifically says that it is okay for you to play Halo. No note, no play. Also, please sign up ahead of time on one of the sheets in the YA area and at the front desk so we know about how many kids will be there. The Anime Society meets Wednesday, the 24th at 1 p.m. to judge the
entries of our t-shirt logo contest. This contest is open to everyone; not just members of
the anime society. We will be hosting a mystery party from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, the 26th. Pizza will be served! |
